Anti-Bullying Readathon 2018.

On Monday the annual #antibullyingreadathon starts and I'll be participating. If I'm not mistaken it's the fifth year in a row that I'm participating.

You can find all the information on the FB page for the readathon. 

As a high school teacher I know how important it is to raise awareness about bullying.

Since I don't do strict TBR's anymore, I'm going to give myself some options.

These are the ones I'm going to choose from:

Anti Bullying Readathon 2017 + TBR

Today I'm coming to you with an annual tradition:

Sarah Churchill is hosting another edition of the Anti Bullying Readathon. Check out her announcement video and the Goodreads page.

 

The first year I participated I only managed to read one book, but last year I discovered audiobooks so I was able to read two books. Two books might not seem a lot, but I usually read only one book a week. This year I hope I can read four books.

Anti Bullying Read-A-Thon 2016 TBR.

Today I want to share my TBR for the Anti Bullying Read-A-Thon.

This is the third year Sarah Churchill is hosting this Read-A-Thon. Check out her announcement video and the Goodreads group.

Last year I wanted to read three books, but only managed to read one. This year I would like to do better and since I am a member of Audible, I'm going to try to read two books as audiobooks, which should make it easier to read more than one book.

These books are in no particular order:

1) Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. I'll be listening to this as an audiobook.

2) Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. Last year I wanted to read Ashes to Ashes only to then realise that this is the third book :-s. I'm also going to listen to this as an audiobook.

3) Last year I'd also planned to read Augie & Me, three short stories about Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I hope I'll get to it this year.

Anti Bully Reads Readathon update: day 1 - 2.

In one of my previous posts I showed you my TBR for the #AntiBullyReads Readathon and one of the books I want to (re)read was Eleanor & Park. On Monday morning, the first day of the readathon I picked this up on my way to school. From the first page onwards I was immediately pulled back into the story, but I also realised I had already forgotten quite a few things. That's why a reread is sometimes a good thing :-)

On the first day I only read 20 or so pages and yesterday I read 30 pages. I know this might not seem like a lot, but since my pupils have a report card, I have a lot of marking to do, so that is taking up a lot of my time. I know some people have already read multiple books, but I just don't have the time. I'm hoping to finish this book by Friday, so I can go on to reading the smaller companion stories of Wonder. We'll see how it goes.

Sarah Churchill does daily updates on her YouTube channel and every day you can win books, so it's well worth your time to go check out her channel!

Anti Bullying Week Readathon TBR

I decided a while ago that I wasn't going to do TBR's anymore, because I don't stick to them anyway. But today I'm going to make an exception:

This is my TBR for the Anti Bullying Week Readathon hosted by the lovely Sarah Churchill (Click on the link to go to her YouTube channel).

This readathon will be held from 16th  - 22nd November. 

Last year Sarah hosted the first Anti Bullying Week Readathon and I participated. I ended up reading one book, but it was one that counted: Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It made me even more aware (I am a teacher, so I'm confronted with the problem on a more or less regular bases) that bullying needs to be stopped and that not enough people know/care about it.

So, when Sarah put up her video for this year, I immediately knew I was going to participate again. I looked up the list of suggested books on the Goodreads page and decided that this year I'm going to try and read:

- Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell (technically this will be a reread, but I've been wanting to reread it for a while now, so this will be the perfect opportunity.)

- The Julian Chapter

- Pluto: A Wonder Story

This is a readathon for a good cause and I'm hoping a lot of people will be joining in.
